Seattle Seahawks Impressed By Odell Beckham Jr.
By Cory Buck
Richard Sherman, Pete Carroll and other members of the Seattle Seahawks were impressed by the play of New York Giants rookie receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
The Seattle Seahawks played rough with the visiting New York Giants and as a result ran away with the game in the second half by a score of 38-17. Instead of their usual post-victory swagger though, Seahawks defenders had nothing but positive things to say about one Giant who dazzled amid the team’s struggles.

Giants rookie receiver Odell Beckham Jr. tore up the vaunted Seattle secondary for 7 catches and 108 yards, including four catches in 1-on-1 coverage against All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman. Beckham said he and Sherman exchanged words after the game and the conversation didn’t go the way post-game conversations usually go with Sherman.
“‘You’re the real deal. You just have to keep working,'” Sherman said, according to Beckham, per the Star-Ledger. “And he was kind of telling me some of the things that were going on and some of the things he was seeing. He said, ‘You’re going to be a great player. Keep working.'”
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll concurred with Sherman’s take. “I thought Beckham was really good,” Carroll said. “He really came out of there and he was the big factor early on … I thought he showed that he was a really good football player [Sunday], and they’ve got a great one in that kid.”
Beckham now has 25 catches for 370 yards and three touchdowns on the season. With Victor Cruz out for the season, expect Beckham to continue to excel with more targets and growing confidence.
