Clayton Kershaw Named National League Cy Young Winner
By Hayden Kane
Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers was the assumed choice for National League Cy Young, and that MLB award was made official by the BBWAA on Wednesday night.
There are certain questions in life that are just easy. Does ESPN love Johnny Manziel? Does Kim Kardashian’s rear end hold power over us all? Is Game of Thrones awesome? And finally, should Clayton Kershaw be the National League Cy Young winner for the 2014 season?

This was the award we already knew. Kershaw might win the National League MVP award, so it is obvious that he would win the Cy Young. Besides, when you get mentioned in the same sentences as Bob Gibson and Sandy Koufax for your work during the regular season, you are probably in line to win an award. That is the case with Kershaw in 2014.
The BBWAA announced that Kershaw was the unanimous winner:
Among the many amazing things about Kershaw’s season is the fact that it was cut short by injury and he was still the unanimous winner of the award. Kershaw went 21-3 in 27 starts, posting a 1.77 ERA, a 1.81 FIP, and a 10.8 K/9 mark. Additionally, he threw a no-hitter that was closer to a perfect game than more actual perfect games.
We got to watch something historic with Kershaw this season, even if the playoffs did not go to plan. This was one of the best seasons of all-time by a starting pitcher, making Kershaw the clear winner of the Cy Young award.
