Fantasy Football: Top 5 Waiver Wire TE week 11

facebooktwitterreddit

The top ten tight ends have been a volatile group this season with some players rising to near elite status before disappearing for a few weeks then returning while others have had a few big weeks before struggling the rest of the way. Almost all the top options have had a few down weeks at some point this year.  After a few weeks with very few options, there are actually several Waiver Wire TE week 11 that I think are worth checking out.

More from Fantasy Football

While Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham, and Julius Thomas need to be locked into your starting lineup, almost any other tight end has been inconsistent enough to replace if you can get a better matchup.  Injuries to starting tight ends are also mounting with Jordan Cameron and Delanie Walker two of the more notable examples.  Both Cameron and Walker are dealing with concussions and may miss this week’s game.

Many owners have had to go to a streaming option with their TE position, but this week there are a few options that can be a little bit longer term solutions if they settle into their role and produce. Here are my top 5 Waiver Wire TE week 11:

player. 60. Rudolph has huge potential to be a top ten option the rest of the season if he can return this week from his sports hernia injury which has kept him sidelined since week 3.  Many fantasy writers had Rudolph as a breakout candidate this year coming into the season since he was the tight end in Norv Turner’s offense which usually makes fantasy football stars.  Rudolph has flashed the upside to be considered a breakout candidate, but at this point he represents a huge risk since he hasn’t played at all with Teddy Bridgewater or since week 3.  Roll the dice with Rudolph, though, since he has the potential to be the long-term solution for you at tight end.  If he is able to return week 11, he’s set up for a great matchup against the Bears who have been unable to stop opposing tight ends in any way shape or form in the last few weeks.. 9.5% owned. Minnesota Vikings. Kyle Rudolph. 1

39.7% owned. Oakland Raiders. Mychal Rivera. 2. player. 28. If Rudolph is too risky for you or he’s already been grabbed in your league, the next name to check for is Mychal Rivera who has been stepping up in the past weeks for the Raiders.  Rivera has become a huge part of the Raiders passing game the last three weeks catching 21 passes for a total of 185 yards and three touchdowns.  Rivera and the Raiders usually play from behind meaning plenty of throwing, and Rivera has been earning more than his share of passes established himself as a top outlet for rookie QB Derek Carr.  Rivera takes on the Chargers this week who held him without a catch back in week 6, but he was not nearly this involved at that point in the season.  Rivera’s worth a shot if you need a short-term fill-in although I don’t see his rest-of-season upside as high as Kyle Rudolph’s.

54. In a throwback performance, Celek emerged from nowhere and became part of Mark Sanchez’s big night on Monday Night Football against the Panthers.  After not catching more than four passes or getting more than 45 yards in any game this season, Celek exploded for 116 yards on his five catches on Monday.  He easily out-targeted and out-produced Zach Ertz who had been the Eagles tight end who had the most fantasy value under previous QB Nick Foles.  It’s unclear wether Celek will stay this involved in games going forward, but it is clear he does have a nice connection with the “Sanchise” which puts him back on the fantasy football radar.  The Eagles are headed into a potential shootout with the Packers in week 11, so Celek is a high-risk play at the TE position, but he showed this week he is worth knowing about.. 0.8% owned. Philadelphia Eagles. Brent Celek. 3. player

1.2% owned. Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Austin Seferian-Jenkins. 5. player. 48. The Bucs’ rookie TE out of Washington was very involved against the Falcons catching a season-high five passes for 30 yards and finding the end zone for the second time in his last three games.  He seemed to have a good rapport with new QB Josh McCown which bodes well for his production going forward.  McCown has made tight ends successful before (See Martellus Bennett last season), and the Bucs are in some favorable matchups for the rookie the next few weeks.  HE’s still a bit of a gamble, but if he and McCown click he’ll be a starting TE in most formats the rest of the way.
