Swedish chef Marin Jacobson has won the World Series of Poker no-limit hold ’em tournament and its $10 million grand prize.
Martin Jacobson didn’t need sunglasses or a hoodie or any other cheap article of clothing to hide his tells. In the end, he just need pocket tens and a little help to finish off his last opponent and bring home the $10 million grand prize as the Hold ‘Em champion at the World Series of Poker.

“There’s no such thing as a ‘perfect tournament,’ but this was close to perfect, maybe,” Jacobson said, per ESPN.
The Swedish Jacobson, who played online poker late at night after getting home from the restaurant where he worked, beat Norwegian Felix Stephenson for the grand prize and was immediately swarmed by friends and family to jump around and celebrate while the music kicked into gear and the confetti blasted in the air.
As the ESPN piece notes, ‘Jacobson would come home late from nights in a restaurant and none of his friends would be awake to chat or hang out, so he started playing online poker.’
Now Jacobson will have plenty of friends with which to hang out as he’s an instant millionaire thanks to his card playing prowess. The aspiring chef can afford his own restaurant and kitchen if he likes, but one suspects Jacobson will continue to rake in the dough with poker.
As his mother Eva notes, “It’s his thing.”
