Oklahoma State seems to be releasing a new helmet soon, if not this weekend then soon, according to a tweet that began to circulate earlier today.

Oklahoma State has had a rough last few weeks, falling to 5-4 after being outscored 124-33 the last three weeks and will be fighting for bowl eligibility Saturday night when Texas goes to Stillwater.

Given the recent slide and lackluster performance, it seems the Pokes will be releasing a new helmet, at least according to a Twitter account ran by Rex and The Chief, who are a part of the Cowboy Baseball broadcasting team.

These are very nice. The carbon fiber mixed with a black stripe highlighted by a fan-favorite phantom Pistol Pete make for an excellent mix. The helmet would go great with their gray uniforms and is the third new helmet the team has released this season, the other two being a chrome orange one and the old OSU bronco logo on another.

However, one of the Oklahoma State linebackers, Ryan Simmons saw the tweet and was surprised as well.

Now OSU usually doesn’t let its players know of new equipment like this until before game time, at least that’s what they did for the release of the other two helmets this year, but it is a little odd that a player has never seen it.

You would think that a pair of the broadcasters for the schools baseball team would be a pretty reliable source so I would think you should see these helmets soon.
