Rams Shaun Hill Sends Austin Davis Back To Being Carded
By Scott Allen
After Sunday’s fourth-quarter blowup in the 31-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the St. Louis Rams tab Shaun Hill to start
Poor Austin Davis. He plays relatively well against the Arizona Cardinals until the fourth-quarter meltdown. He beats the Seattle Seahawks. He beats the San Francisco 49ers. He beat anonymity. Now, he gets to go back and beat his fist on the bench. That’s the NFL for you.

The St. Louis Rams have put quarterback Austin Davis back on the bench in favor of Shaun Hill per ProFootballTalk.com. Hill, who was injured in week one while playing in place of the injured Sam Bradford, was told he’s stay on the bench after he healed. That mindset was apparently changed with two interceptions and one fumble.
What it also does is sends Davis back into the who are you category? After beating the Seahawks, Davis told multiple media outlets that he still had to show his identification to a security guard at the Edward Jones Dome who didn’t know who he was. After that I’m sure he was well-known. Especially after beating two big NFC West rivals.
You can’t blame Rams coach Jeff Fisher wanting to try to go back to Hill though. Davis went 17-30 for 216 yards with one touchdown and those two interceptions in their loss to the Cardinals. Not the worst performance of the weekend by any stretch. Just ask Andy Dalton or Jay Cutler or Cam Newton.
With the Rams still holding an outside hope of doing some damage this season Fisher goes back to what he thought he’d be using all season after Bradford went down in the preseason. Whether the move pays off who knows? At 3-6, in a division with possibly three playoff-bound teams, you have to pull out all the stops.
