Before she was an international superstar in the world of music and entertainment, Taylor Swift was a 12-year-old kid performing the National Anthem at professional sporting events.
Life was so much simpler then for Taylor Swift. Sure, her life was far more complicated at 12 years old than yours or mine, but relative to her current situation, those were quieter times for Swift.

She did not face the pressures of being a superstar country musician. She did not face the subsequent criticism after she “sold out” and started making pop music. There were no famous break-ups, and no scathing break-up songs to write. There was no gossip, very little criticism, and certainly no need to write ridiculously catchy songs in response to gossip and criticism.
Back then, Swift was just your not-at-all normal 12-year-old who was performing the National Anthem at major sporting events. Many children that age are scared to speak in front of the class, let alone sing in front of an arena full of people.
Check out the video of Swift performing at 12 years old below:
I gotta say, that kid looks pretty darn comfortable in the spotlight. And if somebody were to criticize her performances, I have a feeling that 12-year-old Swift would have told them to buzz off just like the current Taylor Swift is inclined to do.
