Tony Bosch, the man behind Biogenesis and a wave of positive PED tests in Major League Baseball, had a request filed on his behalf to delay his sentencing so that he can complete a drug rehab program.

Ex-Biogenesis boss Tony Bosch is an altogether unpleasant man. He looks and sounds like the villain in a bad crime movie, is fundamentally dishonest, and distributed performance enhancing drugs out of his clinic to a number of well-known Major League Baseball players including Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun.

The lesser known part of Bosch’s life, probably, is the fact that he violated the terms of a pretrial release by testing positive for cocaine. Twice. Those actions landed Bosch in a drug rehab program, and now his lawyers have requested a delay in sentencing so that he can complete the program. According to the New York Daily News:

"A lawyer for Anthony Bosch asked a Miami federal judge to postpone sentencing for the Biogenesis founder so he can complete drug rehabilitation and review his case with his defense team.Federal prosecutors and Bosch’s probation officer do not oppose the delay, attorney Guy Lewis said in a motion filed on Tuesday. Bosch is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 18, but Lewis asked U.S. District Judge Darrin P. Gayles to push that back to Feb. 16."

The rehab facility recommended additional treatment for Bosch at an outpatient facility.

Remember, Bosch and his associates are not just in hot water for distributing these drugs to professional athletes; the PEDS were given to high school players as well. This request hopefully only delays the inevitable for Tony Bosch.
