We get treated to a little Pac-12 action on Thursday night between USC and Cal, and already in this one, things are getting weird right off the bat in the first quarter.
USC jumped out to a 14-0 lead off of two Cody Kessler touchdown passes, so Cal was in trouble early on. They needed a play; anything to switch the momentum a little bit.
Well, they got a little bit of the momentum back from the defensive side of the ball.
Cal had USC backed up near their own goal line. At this point, you might have thought Steve Sarkisian would unload with the arm of Cody Kessler once again, but no. He decided to hand the ball off to Justin Davis and, well, that didn’t work out so well.
Yep, the old safety. Now that’s the way to get the momentum back.
But here’s the unfortunate part. They lost it, because the ball was given right back to USC, who proceeded to score once again, making the score 21-2.
More safeties, Cal!
