UNDRCRWN has released a Cleveland Cavaliers hat with “Cavs” spelled in the style of “Heat” in Miami Heat apparel.
Take a look at the hat, courtesy of ESPN’s Darren Rovell:
The red lettering, font and flame on the final letter are all clearly resemble the Heat’s style.
The joke here, of course, is that fans of James are bandwagon fans, rooting for whichever team LeBron plays for. While this is a nice looking hat and the joke is clear, there is a problem here for UNDRCRWN: Who is going to buy this?
Fans of LeBron certainly aren’t going to buy this because it makes them look like bandwagon fans. A Heat fan is obviously not going to wear something LeBron or Cavs related right now. And Cavaliers fans aren’t going to wear a hat written in the Heat’s style, reminding themselves of the four years James spent away from his home state.
The only people that would consider buying this are LeBron haters, wanting to poke fun at his bandwagon fans. But, again, it’s still a Cavs hat at the end of the day and are people that dislike LeBron going to want to wear that?
At the very least, the company is getting social media buzz for the new hat, so it was probably sound business decision regardless of if the hat actually sells well.
