New Orleans Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees is still very confident in his team and NFL playoff despite some struggles.

The New Orleans Saints have been fairly disappointing for the majority of the season thus far, and are sitting at 4-5 but still in first place due to the poor play that the entire division has showcased.

Starting quarterback Drew Brees hasn’t been playing like his usual self this season, and there is quite a bit of concern from the Saints’ organization and fan base surrounding him.

Despite the struggles, Brees is “annoyingly optimistic and confident.”

From Pro Football Talk:

"“I am extremely positive. I am annoyingly optimistic and confident, I’ve been told many times by teammates. And so, you know what? I’m gonna come right back out the next series, and if that throw’s there, you can be darn sure it’s getting thrown. And I’m gonna expect to make the play, and I’m gonna expect the guy I’m throwing to to make the play. That’s how we’ve made a ton of big plays.”"

There is no denying the talent and potential that the Saints have, but they have dealt with some injury problems and their defense has not stepped up like it needs to. Brees has had turnover issues in a fairly big way this year, and he’ll need to cut down on forcing the football into coverage in order to slow those turnovers down.

Mark Ingram has done an excellent job over the past couple of weeks since coming back from injury. He has been providing Brees with a very consistent ground game, which should be translating into more production through the air. Jimmy Graham is also beginning to come around after some early season injury troubles as well.

It’s very possible that the Saints can turn things around and get back to playing the type of football that they were expected to prior to the season. Brees is still one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, but he has to stop attempting to make plays that simply aren’t there.

Expect to see the Saints either turn things around over the next two or thee weeks or end up being a disappointment all year long. It will all start with Brees and how he tweaks his game to improve his turnover troubles.
