Harlem Globetrotter Sets Record For Longest Backwards Shot

Founded 88 years ago in 1926, the Harlem Globetrotters are still setting world records

Harlem Globetrotter Thunder Law set a world record on Guinness World Record Day on Wednesday.  Law broke the record for the longest backwards shot ever.

Law’s shot went 82′ 2″, 10 feet longer than the previous world record.  Thunder shattered the old record of 72’2″.  Last year Law also broke the longest shot ever at almost 110 feet.  Officially that shot went 109′ 9″ back on the Guinness World Record Day in 2013.

I guess the question is, where do you go from here?  For the former High Point University (N.C.) star I would guess he would need to dig deep into the bag of tricks.  Possibly look at certain shots you’d normally only find in a game of Horse or Pig?

Law accomplished the feat Wednesday in Phoenix at US Airways Center.  That was also the site of the 2013 record Law set.  The 6-3 native of Chesapeake, Va., led High Point University in field goal percentage as a senior and was third on the team in rebounding and blocks before being selected by the Globetrotters in their seventh annual player draft in June 2013.

I’m not the only person who is reminded about the game of Horse when seeing these shots Law is attempting and putting in the net.  Admit it, you thought of it as well.

The Globetrotters perform next tomorrow night in Bridgeport, Ct. at Webster Bank Arena at 7pm.
