Ben McLemore headed to the free throw line, his Sacramento Kings up 110-109 after DeMarcus Cousins hit a couple of free throws to give his team the lead. With just 0.9 seconds left, McLemore could seal the game. He missed both free throws and Zach Randolph grabbed the rebound. The Memphis Grizzlies took a timeout with 0.6 seconds to play.
That’s when they ran a perfectly executed inbounds play that resulted in one of the craziest game-winners you will see all season.
Vince Carter was throwing the ball in, and found a cutting Courtney Lee who elevated, caught the ball and laid it in before the buzzer sounded.
You can watch the play below:
For the Kings, it’s an extremely disappointing loss. Cousins played like an absolute fiend at the end of the game, going against Marc Gasol without fear or hesitation. His free throws to put the Kings up came off a Gasol foul that happened with Boogie driving from the three-point line.
Despite the disappointment, there is a moral victory for the Kings. They almost had the game won against one of the Western Conference’s perennial playoff teams. It’s been a while since Sacramento fans had something to be excited for, but this Kings team looks to be a real candidate for the eighth seed.
