Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout has some new signature cleats to go along with his new MVP trophy.
Soon after MLB announced Trout as the winner of its 2014 American League MVP award, ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported that Nike is making special MVP cleats to celebrate the outfielder’s win.
Take a look at the cleats below:
These cleats are awesome and surely baseball fans everywhere would love to have these. The gold shoes have the MVP’s number and name on them.
Trout was the unanimous winner for MVP in his third season in the big leagues. He finished second in the award’s voting behind Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera in each of the previous two seasons.
Trout batted .287 with 36 home runs, 111 RBI and 115 runs scored. He led the Angels to 98 wins and an AL West title. Unfortunately for Trout, he and the Angels were swept by the Kansas City Royals in the American League Division Series. Trout had just one hit in the series.
Still, Trout’s postseason woes don’t take away from a remarkable regular season. His 7.9 Wins Above Replacement ranked first among positional players and he easily deserved the award.
At 23, Trout is the fifth-youngest MVP winner.
