John Kramer of Philadelphia turned himself into police in his Philadelphia Eagles jersey Wednesday afternoon after he dumped his red Corvette that is registered to his estranged wife, Stephanie Kramer, into the Delaware River.

John Kramer violated a protection order that bars him from being around Stephanie’s residence. After a disagreement that the two shared at her residence, John Kramer got rid of the Corvette.

“I just wanted to get rid of it,” Kramer, 50, told the Daily News in a telephone interview last night. “I was sick and tired of everybody fighting over a car I paid $36,000 for.”

Stephanie told the Daily News that John wanted the family minivan, but wouldn’t leave his Corvette as a trade. Stephanie’s deal for John wasn’t good enough and he took drastic measures.

“He texted my daughter and said, ‘You have two minutes, or I’m putting the Corvette into the river,’ ” she said. Minutes later, she received another text that said, “Too late; It’s already gone. LOL.”

Stephanie and John Kramer had been married for 18 years, but their marriage had taken a down turn since their son died of drug overdose in their home in June. Stephanie filed a protection-from-abuse order against John after he smashed Stephanie’s windshield of her Ford Fusion with a couple of dumbbells. He later tried to beat down the door of their home, smashing a pane of glass in the process, both said.

“He had the Corvette, so I told him if he brought it back, he could have the minivan,” she said. “There’s no way he could have both.”

But he wasn’t ready to permanently part with the sports car he had bought.

So, all in all, this circus of a story relates to sports in a couple ways. You don’t go down without a fight. And when you do go town, your whole team goes down, hence the Philadelphia Eagles jersey in Philly lock up right now.
