Every so often, Stephen Curry will wrap up his pregame warmups by draining a shot from the arena tunnel. It’s an awkward angle since he’s almost behind the backboard and really far away, but that’s no problem for the Golden State Warriors sharp shooter.
You can watch the video of the shot below:
In basketball, you have 2-pointers. You have 3-pointers. You have free throw shots. Then there are swagger shots. What’s a swagger shot, you ask? It’s that shot that an NBA player takes that meets the following criteria (a) It’s that ridiculous shot you practice to have in your back pocket to hand your opponent the final ‘E’ in HORSE, (b) a higher-than-necessary degree of difficulty and (c) it’s taken to prove a point.
Curry had a perfect example of a made swagger shot earlier this season against the Lakers.
There is always a spirited debate to be had about who the greatest 3-point shooter of all time is. But I can say, without a doubt, Curry is the greatest swagger shooter in NBA history. Even though Curry’s tunnel shot wasn’t in a game, it still illustrates his ability to make shots with higher degrees of difficulty. He clearly practices it, and it’s done to prove the point that there is no shot he can’t make.
