It’s Week 11 and the fantasy playoffs are just weeks away. Teams need every point they can possibly get in their matchups. This week’s Start ‘Em and Sit ‘Em will look at which players you should go with and which should warm the bench.

QUARTERBACKS
START ‘EM
Philip Rivers vs. Oakland
Philip Rivers has thrown 11TDs and 2 INTs in 4 starts at home this season. He has also thrown for at least 275 yards in 3 of those starts. This week Rivers has a great matchup against the bottom pit of the AFC West that is the Oakland Raiders. In Rivers last three games against the Silver & Black, he has averaged over 300 yards passing per game. Look for Rivers to continue that trend this week.
Matt Ryan @ Carolina
Matt Ryan faces the Panthers on the road this week. In 6 career road games against Carolina, Ryan is averaging 248 yards passing per game with 9 TDs. This season, the Panthers have given up at least 250 yards passing in 7 of 10 games. They have also given up 19 passing touchdowns, which is 3rd most in the league only trailing the Jets and Bears. Look for Ryan to take advantage against a defense that has looked lost since Greg Hardy was placed on the exempt list.
Colin Kaepernick @ New York Giants
Colin Kaepernick has played very well on the road this season. In 5 road games, he is averaging 252 yards passing per game with 8 TDs and 1 INT. This week presents a favorable matchup because the Giants are giving up an average of 281 yards passing per game at home with 6 TDs and 4 INTs. Kaepernick also likes to rush, and the Giants just gave up 107 yards rushing to Russell Wilson last week.

Matthew Stafford @ Arizona
Matthew Stafford is playing his best football of season right now, and just got his favorite weapon back in Calvin Johnson. This week Stafford goes up against a Cardinals defense that has given up the 6th most passing yards to quarterbacks. They are giving up an average of 274 yards a game. Look for Stafford to light up the Cards in a battle for the best record in the NFC.
Josh McCown @ Washington
Josh McCown came back in a big way in Week 10. He threw for 301 yards and 2 TDs against a decent Falcons pass defense. This week, McCown faces a porous Redskins squad that has given up 9 TDs in 4 home games. The Redskins have also given up at least 200 yards passing in 7 of 10 games this season. If you’re looking for a last minute spot start, McCown is your guy.
SIT ‘EM

Ben Roethlisberger @ Tennessee
Big Ben fell back to Earth with his week 10 performance against the Jets. Although he threw for 343 yards, he only had 1 TD and had his first multiple INT game of the season. This week the Steelers go on the road to Tennessee for Monday Night Football. In 8 career road MNF games, Roethlisberger has averaged 190 yards passing per contest and has thrown 7 TDs to 11 INTs. Look elsewhere if possible.
Jay Cutler vs. Minnesota
Jay Cutler is coming off a brutal loss at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. He threw his 4th multiple INT game of the season. During the Bears current 3 game losing streak, Cutler has thrown 4 INT and 5 fumbles; 3 of which were lost fumbles. The Vikings have given up the 4th fewest passing yards this season and have given up the 5th fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks. Given the Bears recent struggles and the Vikings stingy defense, look to put Cutler in the backseat this week.
Alex Smith vs. Seattle
Most quarterbacks who face the Seahawks usually find themselves on this list. Alex Smith is no exception. This week he has the tall task of going against the Legion of Boom who have given up the 8th fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Smith hasn’t passed for more than 255 yards in any game this season. With other QBs available on the wire, it would be wise to choose an alternate if possible.
Andy Dalton @ New Orleans
Andy Dalton is coming off one of the worst games of his career. He has to put that behind him as he enters hostile New Orleans for the first time in his career to face the Saints and WHO DAT nation. Dalton has thrown 4 TDs and 8 INTs in the last 5 games. In 3 road games, the Bengals have been outscored 86-40. To make matters worse for Dalton, Rob Ryan’s defense has been stingy to opposing QBs at home, allowing only 3 passing TDs all year.

Ryan Tannehill vs. Buffalo
Ryan Tannehill cooled off a bit in Week 10 courtesy of the Detroit Lions. He was sacked 3 times and hurt his shoulder trying to make a tackle. To make matters worse, the Dolphins lost offensive tackle Brandon Albert for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL/MCL. The Dolphins are on a short week as they play host to the Bills on Thursday Night Football. The Bills defense has played great this season and they have given up the 4th fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Tannehill owners should put him on the bench this week.
