Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy says it doesn’t matter to him that he’s not going to rush for 2,000 yards this season because his team is playing well.

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy said before this season that he expected to rush for 2,000 yards this season.
Nine games into the year, it’s clear McCoy won’t reach such goals. He’s rushed for just 640 yards, which has him on pace for 1,140 yards on 308 carries.
But McCoy’s Eagles are 7-2 and the running back told CSN Philly that’s of the most importance to him.
“The individual goals and achievements are always second,” McCoy said. “We’re winning games and we’re being a successful team, so that’s all that really matters at the end of the day. Sure, I would like it different. I think every player would like it different. But the main focus and the main thing that matters the most is that we’re winning.”
McCoy also says he doesn’t care that people are now questioning his abilities.
“It don’t matter,” he said. “I’m not saying anything to them people or to whoever, because it doesn’t mean anything. I’ll say how good I am or I’ll say how bad I’m doing or whatever. Wherever they value me, it doesn’t matter. Other teams, obviously, they feel a certain way. My team does, too. That’s all that matters.”
One can’t expect McCoy to say anything different than he did, but it’s only human nature to be disappointed in yourself after underperforming and being unhappy when media members and fans suggest you’ve lost a step.
The good news for McCoy is that the Eagles are likely headed to the postseason and a strong stretch from him to close out the regular season and into the postseason would certainly make up for his early-year struggles.
