Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love is shooting down rumors that he plans to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers after this season.
Kevin Love has no plans to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Los Angeles Lakers.

On Friday, Love dismissed a report by Bulls.com’s Sam Smith that stated the NBA star would strongly consider opting out of his contract with the Cavs after this season and sign with the Lakers. Love also addressed the belief that he and Kyrie Irving celebrated a victory with a handshake that involved pretending to smoke a joint.
From ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
"“Whatever [people assumed] we were doing with our hands was about as true as me going to the Lakers,” Love said after shootaround in advance of the Cavaliers’ game against the Boston Celtics. “I mean, I don’t know why it was so hard for people to realize that we were actually curling our mustache. I guess because I had my fingers in the wrong place. Looking at the tape, film don’t lie, it looks like we are doing something bad, but that wasn’t the case.”(…)“Going to the Lakers, no, that’s not [true],” Love said. “I don’t know where somebody got that.”"
The rumors of Love leaving the Cavaliers after this season were absurd. Love will likely opt-out of his contract after this season in an attempt to secure a more lucrative contract, but it would be stunning if he were to leave the Cavs.
The Cavs are poised to win at a high-level for years to come. The Lakers? Not so much.
Also, Love pushed for a trade to the Cavs. The idea that he’s already thinking about leaving a team he wanted to be on doesn’t make much sense.
Regardless of the absurdity of the rumors, it was wise for Love to put them to rest with these recent comments.
