When it comes to the San Antonio Spurs, Kobe Bryant has jealous tendencies.

Bryant admitted in the midst of the 2014 NBA playoffs that he is jealous of Spurs center Tim Duncan for spending his entire career under coach Gregg Popovich.

Bryant is now expressing similar jealousies to ESPN of Duncan and his Spurs cohorts.

"“I’m extremely jealous of that,” Bryant said this week after his team’s loss in New Orleans. “I don’t know if I can express to you how jealous I am of the fact that Tim, Tony [Parker], Manu [Ginobili]and Pop [Spurs coach Gregg Popovich] have all been together for all those years. Like, I can’t even … I can’t express to you how jealous I am of that. Not all this up-and-down stuff.”(…)“It would be like if Me, Pau, L.O. and Phil, if we were all just here, still,” Bryant said. “It’s crazy. That longevity is freaking crazy.”"

It’s hard to fault Bryant for wanting what the Spurs have. Just about every player in the NBA surely wish they could be a part of what the Spurs have built during Popovich’s reign.

But it also has to be especially bothersome for Bryant, who has five championship rings like Duncan does. Kobe’s spending his last few years in the league with a bunch of below-average players that he’s spent little time while Duncan gets to play his last years competing at the highest level with guys he’s been around for years.

The Lakers and Spurs will play Friday in the Staples Center.
