How Does Amari Cooper Come Down With This Catch? (Video)
By Wes Goldberg
It’s Amari Cooper’s field, everyone else is just playing on it.
Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Amari Cooper caught a 50-yard pass from Blake Sims. For some reason, Cooper was single covered on a deep route. All Sims had to do was give him a chance. He threw it to Cooper’s side opposite the coverage, and Amari went up and got it.
You can watch the play below:
On the previous drive, Cooper caught a 4-yard touchdown from Sims. No. 5 ranked Alabama was going to need Cooper’s brilliance in full force to beat No. 1 ranked Mississippi State. This catch is just what Nick Saban ordered. Derrick Henry scored on the next play on a one-yard touchdown run that was originally called a fumble but overturned to a touchdown. Alabama is leading Mississippi State 19-0 with just a couple minutes left in the first half.
What’s on the line in this SEC matchup? A win would put Alabama back into the top four and the College Football Playoff. A loss for Mississippi State wouldn’t likely kick them out of the playoff, but it would surely take them off the top of the hill.
Cooper has six catches for 67 yards and a touchdown catch so far. On the season, the Miami native has 79 catches for 1,215 yards and 10 touchdowns.
