The Arizona Coyotes scored five unanswered goals in victory against the Vancouver Canucks

It took quite a few games, but things are finally starting to look up for the Arizona Coyotes.

A rough start to the season — which included a 7-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, a 6-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues, and a shutout by the Carolina Hurricanes — has finally started to fade into the background. The team went on a three-game win streak last week, then followed it up with two one-goal losses and a back and forth battle against the Calgary Flames before bringing home their fourth win of November.

The Pacific Division franchise shut out the Vancouver Canucks while on the road with a 5-0 victory, which included a natural hat trick for center alternate captain Martin Hanzal and backup netminder Devan Dubnyk’s first shutout with the franchise.

The Coyotes opened up the game with a goal fourteen minutes into the first period, but stayed at 1-0 until a questionable goal by Martin Hanzal (his second of three) was allowed by the referees late in the second.

From there on, the momentum shifted in favor of the Coyotes, and they went on to score three more before the final buzzer. Hanzal followed up his second goal with his third and final of the night only nine seconds later, then both captain Shane Doan and second alternate captain Keith Yandle netted goals of their own to bring home the victory.

The team had placed defenseman David Schlemko on waivers after the 5-3 loss the night before, and it seems as if that spurred fellow blue liner Brandon Gormley to push for a permanent roster spot in his stead.

The Coyotes will get only a day to rest before traveling to Edmonton, where they will face off against the Oilers in their third and final game of a road trip through the Western Conference. The Oilers are the only team lower than them in the Pacific Division standings.
