Well once again we’re learning that just because the College Football Playoff is in existence, doesn’t mean that the regular season will be watered down. Following the loss of Mississippi State to Alabama on Saturday, we’re going to have another shake up in the rankings.
Mississippi State has been holding strong in the No. 1 spot since the rankings were initially released a few weeks ago, but their magical run came to an end on Saturday. It was a fun ride, but the undefeated dream died at the hands of Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.
So of course, now the question turns to what their fate will be as it pertains to the College Football Playoff rankings. They most certainly will not be the top team in the land, but will they be taken out of the running completely after one loss?
