Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson will more than likely be out for the rest of the season for the Tigers. According to a report from Clemson 247, the freshman phenom tore his ACL on Saturday during the game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Watson went down against Georgia Tech after what appeared to be a non-contact injury to his left knee. Watson was able to walk off the field on his own power and he was taken to the locker room for evaluations.
Watson burst onto the scene for the Tigers this season when he took over for starter Cole Stoudt during the Saturday night game earlier in the year against Florida State. He provided a spark to the offense that nearly let them pull off them upset in Tallahassee. The following week against North Carolina, Watson broke the school record for touchdown passes in a game when he tossed six scoring strikes.
This isn’t the first injury to Watson this year, as he missed time after breaking his throwing hand. However, this injury will end his first season at Clemson and hopefully he can make a speedy recovery and come back healthy to lead the Tigers next fall.
