Florida State’s defense came up with a clutch stop with just under a minute left in the game to pull out the win.

Needless to say, the Hurricanes gave it their best shot and proved that they are a quality football team themselves. Florida State had some weaknesses show up tonight, and it nearly cost them the game.
Jameis Winston threw for 304 yards, a touchdown, as well as an interception in the win, but wasn’t able to power his offense like the Seminoles were hoping. His counterpart, freshman Brad Kaaya, threw for 316 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
Kaaya showed quite a bit of talent tonight, and the future looks very bright at the quarterback position for the Hurricanes. He had excellent poise in the pocket, and made big plays down the field, and in the intermediate and short game as well. Miami has to be very pleased with what he showed in the biggest game of his career to this point, and they have something to build on moving forward.
Duke Johnson also played a huge role for the Miami offense, racking up 130 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. Florida State was led in rushing by Dalvin Cook who picked up 92 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries. Obviously the Seminoles were not very committed to their ground game, especially after they got down early in the game and began putting the football in Winston’s hands.
Miami proved that they aren’t a pushover team despite the loss, and they have absolutely nothing to hang their heads about. They have a lot of talent in their program, and they will be just fine moving forward. Florida State is still very much alive in the college football playoff race, and are 10-0 on the season.
All of that being said, this was a very exciting game that did not disappoint the viewers. Miami came out strong and played with a lot of passion, but they simply weren’t as talented as the Seminoles. Florida State will come away from this game with a lot to work on, and plenty of holes to fill as well.
It will be very intriguing to see how both teams end up finishing out the season after this game, and whether or not the Seminoles can remain undefeated through the end of the year. Either way, this was a fun game to watch and both teams left their hearts out on the field.
