The Wisconsin Badgers are facing the Nebraska Cornhuskers this afternoon in a heated Big Ten game, but the Badgers have completely taken over the game in the second half.

While the domination that the Badgers have shown is impressive enough, the game that running back Melvin Gordon has been putting up has been even more impressive.

Gordon has carried the football 25 times for 408 yards and four touchdowns on the afternoon, which is enough to break the single game NCAA football rushing yard record that was previously held by LaDainian Tomlinson.

Tomlinson set that record at 406 rushing yards on November 20th, 1999 with 406 yards, and was very gracious with his congratulatory message to Gordon after the Badgers’ running back broke the record.

Take a look at the congratulatory tweet that Tomlinson sent to Gordon following the record breaking play:

Needless to say, this type of performance doesn’t come along very often and it is always difficult for players to give up a record like that. Gordon has been having a big year all season long for the Badgers, and this is a very fitting game for him to have.

Tomlinson was an amazing running back in his day, and it’s great to see him send this type of message to the new NCAA single game rushing yard record holder.

It was a very classy move by Tomlinson, and one that Gordon will never forget.
