The Gators should have won on Saturday and got their sixth win and eligible for a bowl after missing last year for the first time in a long time and held a 17-10 lead in the final minute before it all went wrong.
Florida had a 32-yard field goal blocked that would have given them a 10-point lead with 3:31 remaining and after stopping South Carolina on fourth down on the ensuing possession, South Carolina did it again and blocked the punt from Kyle Christy with 39 seconds remaining to give the Gamecocks life.
Mike Davis had a 27-yard reception on the first play of the drive and after a pass interference penalty gave South Carolina the ball at the UF 2, Mike Davis took the pitch from Dylan Thompson, fumbled it, then recovered the ball in the end zone for the touchdown.
The game went to overtime where South Carolina got a touchdown after Florida settled for a field goal and that left Spurrier unleashing this quote that will really grind the gears of Gators fans.
The end of the Muschamp era can’t come soon enough for Florida fans who have endured two difficult years in a row.
