Demaryius Thomas currently with the second longest streak, trailing only Calvin Johnson’s eight-game streak of at least 100 receiving yards recorded in Calvin Johnson’s record-breaking 2012, where he seemingly dismantled many NFL receiving records. He is currently tied with Michael Irvin (1995), Bill Groman and Charley Hennigan (both in 1961) for seven straight games with at least 100 receiving yards.
Thomas, who is one of the three-headed monster that is the Denver receiving core has 72 catches for 1,105 yards and 6 touchdowns through 10 games this season. Peyton Manning uses him on a lot of bubble screens and short possession routes, yet has the ability to stretch the defense and use his height to fight for jump balls.
As reported earlier today, Julius Thomas had to leave the game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday with a hobbled ankle and Emmanuel Sanders left with a concussion. Thomas may need to be even more of a factor now with those two possibly being out with the Broncos tilt with the Miami Dolphins next week.
He may have well tied the second longest streak in NFL history this week but Thomas said it does not matter if they do not win.
“Doesn’t mean anything at all,” Thomas said. “We lost. You don’t think about the streak or anything else when you play like that. We didn’t play well at all, especially on the offensive side of the ball.”
The Broncos are currently tied for first in the AFC West with the Kansas City Chiefs at 7-3 and look to extend their record next week with the Miami Dolphins coming to town.
