Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced Thursday he is terminally ill with colon cancer. On Saturday, the Calgary Flames paid tribute to Murray.

The hockey world was rocked Thursday when Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray told TSN’s Michael Farber that he has terminal cancer.

Murray, 71, told Farber he has stage 4 colon cancer.

"“There is no cure at this point for me,” Murray said."

On Saturday night, before the Senators played the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome, the Flames paid tribute to Murray on the arena’s video board.

Murray has been general manager of the Senators since June 2007, just after taking Ottawa to its only appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals, a five-game loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
