Canadiens’ Gallagher Scores Tricky Goal (video)
Brendan Gallagher scored a goal for the Montreal Canadiens that belongs on every highlight reel
Brendan Gallagher is kind of a good hockey player on kind of a good hockey team.

The Montreal Canadiens are currently first in the NHL, leading the league with 29 points and a 14-4-1 record in the first month and a half of the regular season.
During their 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings, though, the highlight of the already-impressive win was Brendan Gallagher’s goal at the 18:41 mark in the third period — which I suppose could be considered the insurance goal on the other two insurance goals — that wowed the crowds and gave the Canadiens a three-goal victory margin over their divisional rivals.
As you can see, Gallagher somehow goes from his knees a full foot behind the goalposts to sliding the puck neatly past Jimmy Howard and straight to the back of the net. How does that even happen? That goal actually defied every law of gravity that I questionably learned during my high school physics class.
On the assist, of course, was Gallagher’s fellow winger and bff Alex Galchenyuk, who I quite frankly expected to be the one netting that final point. Galchenyuk is typically the one out of the pair with the sicker set of hands… guess he’s been teaching his buddy a thing or two.
