Ducks’ Corey Perry Returns Against Panthers
Anaheim Ducks debut Corey Perry sans-mumps Sunday against Florida Panthers
If the Anaheim Ducks win tonight, then I’m totally calling all these mumps-returnees for what they really are… scare tactics.

After nearly two weeks absent from the lineup, Anaheim’s star forward Corey Perry has returned to the ice in the team’s matchup against the Florida Panthers. This will be his first time on the roster since Sunday, November 2nd, when the Ducks defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-2.
Since Perry fell ill, the Ducks have been struggling — both due to his absence and a slew of other illnesses and injuries. Fellow forward and team captain Ryan Getzlaf also spent a game out with similar symptoms to Perry, while defenseman Francois Beauchemin was officially diagnosed with mumps as well and has been out all week. Add to that a groin injury for netminder John Gibson, and the team has only one win in their past five contests.
Perry was possibly the first player in the league to contract the rare illness, as was suggested by his early onset of the symptoms and his increased difficulty recovering, but at least three separate teams reported players showing symptoms.
In addition to Corey Perry, Minnesota Wild‘s Marco Scandella was also cleared to play after spending time out for mumps-like symptoms.
