Defensive end J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans was flagged twice Sunday for roughing Cleveland Browns punter Spencer Lanning, but he’s not sorry he did it.

Houston Texans All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt had his typical day Sunday in a 23-7 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Watt finished with five tackles, a sack and three tackles for loss. He also caught a 2-yard touchdown pass on offense and was flagged twice for roughing Cleveland punter Spencer Lanning.

So how bad did Watt feel about costing his team 30 yards in penalties? How sorry was he for popping Lanning a couple of times?

Not very, at least not according to what he told ESPN.com’s Tania Ganguli:

The Texans improved to 5-5 with the win at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, dropping the Browns from first place in the AFC North to last place with the defeat.

The touchdown was Watt’s fourth of the season. He has two receiving touchdowns on two catches—a decent ratio—and also has returned a fumble and an interception for scores.

The sack moves his season total to 9½ and he now has 44 tackles.

He’s been an All-Pro each of the last two seasons and appears headed in that direction again in 2014. He was also the Defensive Player of the Year in 2012 and has received some MVP buzz this season.

The MVP talk might seem straight for a guy on a .500 team, but Watt has done a little bit of everything this season for the Texans.

At least Sunday was a road game, which gave him less to do—he didn’t have to collect tickets or sell popcorn.
