When the Green Bay Packers signed linebacker Julius Peppers this past offseason, there was a lot of criticism outside of the Packers’ fan base regarding the move. Green Bay fans loved the signing, but most other fans thought that Peppers was nothing more than an aging veteran that wouldn’t be able to provide much this season.
The Packers’ have been proven right to this point in the season, and Peppers came through with yet another big play this evening against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Peppers intercepted a pass from Mark Sanchez and rumbled down the field for 52 yards and a Green Bay touchdown to extend their lead over the Eagles to 39-3. That was his second interception returned for a touchdown this season, and he has provided excellent play and leadership as well.
Watch the interception return for yourself:
At the end of the day, the Packers are the ones getting the last laugh as far as the Peppers signing is concerned. They have been much better on defense than many were expecting, and Peppers is one of the main reasons for that success. Peppers didn’t have a good season last year with the Chicago Bears, but he is proving that he still has plenty of good football left in the tank for the Packers.
