Nino Niederreiter’s Filthy Goal (GIF)
Nino Niederreiter flips a filthy backhand behind Winnipeg netminder Ondrej Pavelec
The Minnesota Wild are currently beating the Winnipeg Jets 3-0, and I think you can see why.

This ridiculous forehand-to-backhand cross that Wild forward Nino Niederreiter slips behind Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec was the first of three unanswered goals that the Minnesota franchise would net in the first period of Sunday night’s game.
Coming just over two minutes into the game, this power-play point would set the tone for the entire first period; although the second period went scoreless on both sides, Minnesota knows that all it takes is one good period to take home a win. The Wild are even playing previously injured veteran Niklas Backstrom in net, and things are still going this way. Come on, Winnipeg.
This was Niederreiter’s seventh goal of the season; the former fifth overall pick has nine points in the last fifteen games with the Central Division franchise.
Prior to this game, the biggest thing going for the Jets was how abnormally stellar their goaltending was; Pavelec had a .928 SV% to start off the season, and was averaging only 1.99 GAA.
I think… I think that’s about to change.
The other two goals scored in the first, of course, came from alternate captain Zach Parise. The guy clearly knows how to make an entrance after spending some time on injured reserve for a concussion.
