The Oakland Raiders have officially been eliminated from playoff consideration
I believe this news falls under the category of ‘devastating to some, shocking to none’.

It was announced Sunday that the Oakland Raiders, who have been the uncontested worst team in the NFL for weeks now, have been officially eliminated from playoff consideration for Superbowl XLIX.
This exit from the post-season race is the fastest since 2004, when the Miami Dolphins were deemed mathematically incapable of reaching the playoffs with a 1-9 record. Although technically, it would have required a zero-losses streak to make it as of last week, anyway, which… were the Oakland Raiders capable of this? I’m not being mean; the young team and their interim coach stood little to no chance of making this happen.
The Raiders have been falling apart since the start of the season, but the firing of head coach Dennis Allen at the 0-4 marker in the season really sealed the deal for this AFC West franchise.
With no hopes of making it out of the regular season, the Raiders are now tasked only with attempting to earn a win in the next six weeks; should they fall to 0-16, they will be only the second team in NFL history to do so since 1976 (the first was the Detroit Lions, who achieved an imperfect season in 2008).
And to think, we all had such high hopes for the younger Carr.
