Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine any damage to an injury in his left knee.

The hits keep coming for the Arizona Cardinals, but the team just keeps on winning. Add All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald to the list of major Cardinals players to leave a game with injury. Fitzgerald will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of a left knee injury that took Fitz out of the game in the team’s 14-6 win over the Detroit Lions.

It’s believed to be an MCL injury in Fitzgerald’s knee, but coach Bruce Arians didn’t seem as downtrodden about this injury as he was about that of QB Carson Palmer.

“Larry came back and played, so we’ll see how sore he is Monday,” Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said after the game, per Sports Illustrated.

With the Cardinals already down to Drew Stanton at quarterback, they can hardly afford to lose their best receiver as well. While Fitzgerald hasn’t dominated the score sheet in typical fashion, his presence creates openings elsewhere in the offense. You simply cannot leave Fitz with man coverage all game and if he is slowed or out for a stretch of time, that could severely limit what Stanton can do with this offense.

The Cardinals’ primary concern will be Fitzgerald’s health for the playoffs. At 9-1, Arizona can start looking that far ahead, even if winning the division could be a struggle without their top quarterback and receiver.

Arizona next visits the Seattle Seahawks in a pivotal Week 12 matchup and while it will be tempting to rush Fitzgerald back to cement the team’s status atop the NFC West, expect them to exercise caution in handling Fitzgerald with the Cardinals keeping their eyes on January and beyond.
