Mullen’s name being in this report this report comes as a bit of a surprise, since he was thought to be a candidate in a report from al.com. Mullen’s Mississippi State Bulldogs were No. 1 in the nation, but suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday at the hands of Alabama.
Fox Sports included Rich Rodriguez as a candidate for the Florida job earlier in the day on Monday. Rich Rod’s N0. 15 ranked Arizona Wildcats are currently 8-2 after knocking off the Washington Huskies on Saturday.
What is still unclear at this point is why either coach wouldn’t be considered by the Florida Gators. Both coaches have had tremendous success, and Florida is capable of luring them away from their current jobs with larger contracts and Florida’s natural recruiting advantages.
