The New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs are expected to go after Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol during the NBA’s 2015 offseason.

Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol promises to be one of the most sought out NBA free agents this upcoming offseason.

Among the team expected to pursue Gasol: The New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, according to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.

"The Knicks’ main free-agent target, Marc Gasol, is also being targeted as a possible replacement to Tim Duncan assuming Ol’ Man Riverwalk retires this summer. The Knicks will be players for the Memphis center mainly because of the first three rules of real estate — location, location, location — and because Gasol is familiar with both Jackson and Derek Fisher since older brother Pau spent the best years of his career with the Lakers."

New York and San Antonio can offer Gasol promising situations.

Even though the Knicks’ roster is fairly weak at the moment, they still have Carmelo Anthony and could get back to winning with Gasol in the mix. Also, the allure of New York is likely to appeal to Gasol, as Isola mentions.

On the other side, the Spurs are perhaps the most well-run franchise in the sports world. Even if Duncan retires, Gasol could go there knowing that Spurs management would put him in position to compete for a championship.

Still, there is a strong possibility that Gasol simply stays in Memphis, where he’s experienced great success in recent years.

"Otherwise, staying in Memphis will be appealing to Gasol, whose team is a legitimate championship contender. The Grizzlies can offer Gasol the most money, and he has grown to love the city, having lived there since high school when Pau broke in with the Grizzlies."

Gasol is averaging 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season.
