Through six weeks of the NHL season several categories have been formed between the bottom feeders of the league to the favorites for the Stanley Cup as we take a look at a revamped NHL power rankings entering Week 7

As the quarter pole nears for the 2014-2015 NHL season a divide is taking form between the Stanley Cup contenders, the veteran teams who are cruising in the regular season, the pretenders and contenders, the preseason darlings and those tanking for a shot at top prospects Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel.

This installment of the NHL power rankings reflects the class system and lumps teams into a specific category as opposed to the early editions that were a simple worst to first standard power ranking. This was designed to provide a different and unique approach to looking and evaluating your favorite hockey teams and hopefully giving the reader something new to think about.

Without further ado, here are the NHL power rankings after six weeks. Please leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below so your voice can be heard on who you believe are the best teams in the NHL.

The NHL Power Rankings are a weekly staple for the FanSided NHL section and will be published every Monday morning so be sure to bookmark the page so you can stay on top of all the daily coverage as well as weekly features like power rankings and Wednesday’s player rankings.
