Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson suffered a shoulder sprain during the Fighting Irish’s loss to the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday and it could keep him out this Saturday against Louisville

Things went from bad to worse for Notre Dame after they lost their second game in a row and third in their last four games when the Irish fell to Northwestern in overtime at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday and injury was added to insult with Everett Golson suffering a shoulder injury.

Golson sprained his AC joint in his throwing shoulder and that could limit his availability for Saturday’s game against Bobby Petrino’s Cardinals in a must-win game.

Head coach Brian Kelly is unsure if he’ll be able to play on Saturday but did mention that Golson was able to throw on Sunday after being limited during the loss to the Wildcats.

"“I haven’t gotten a chance to talk to him about it,” Kelly said, via Yahoo Sports. “There were certainly a couple of throws when he first did it where he put the ball into the ground. You could see that it affected him then. He said he was fine after that, but obviously we missed some throws, especially in overtime. But he said it didn’t affect him.”"

Golson threw for 287 yards with three touchdowns and ran for 78 yards and another score but had two more turnovers as the former Heisman contender now has 19 turnovers in the last seven games.

Notre Dame fell out of the AP top 25 poll after falling to 7-3.
