The two players listed as suspects are senior linebacker A.J. Johnson and sophomore defensive back Michael Williams, according to reports, while Volunteers head coach Butch Jones declined to name players at a Monday press conference.

It is unknown if the two victims are related, but one 19-year-old Tennessee student said she was raped by two male students while the other victim, a 19-year-old visiting from another college said she was sexually assaulted. She returned to Florida and decided against pressing charges.

Jones said the two players will be withheld from practice while the investigation is ongoing. Their playing status for the team’s two remaining games and potential bowl game is unclear, but if they’re not practicing, it would stand to reason that they will not play on Saturday’s.

No charges have been filed and neither of the two suspects have been arrested at this time.

Johnson led the SEC in tackles two seasons ago as a sophomore and returned to Tennessee for his senior season after bypassing the NFL Draft.

Williams is a redshirt sophomore from Laurel, MD and has appeared in 10 games, making five starts and recording 23 total tackles this year. He joined the team as a walk-on cornerback in 2013.
