Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer is now on the list of people that believe his quarterback, J.T. Barrett, is a legitimate contender for the Heisman Trophy.

J.T. Barrett has been not only everything the Ohio State Buckeyes could have asked for in taking over for Braxton Miller, he’s been more. In fact, the chances of Miller getting that job back next year are very slim, and that’s because Barrett has turned in a Heisman-worthy performance this year in leading the Buckeyes to a 9-1 record.
Throwing for 2,356 yards with 29 touchdowns and just eight interceptions, people are beginning to believe that Barrett should be among those sitting in New York come early December at the Heisman ceremony.
Well, you can count Urban Meyer among those people.
At his post-Minnesota press conference on Monday, after J.T. Barrett turned in another performance, Meyer was asked whether or not his signal caller is worthy of being considered for the Heisman, and his answer was pretty much to the point and clear.
“He’s a Heisman candidate.” Meyer said.
When the Buckeyes and Barrett lost the second game of the season, all national title hopes for Ohio State were thrown out the window by most experts. Now, with his unreal progression, Ohio State is just a few spots away from being one of the top four teams in the country.
For that alone, Barrett deserves some heavy consideration.
