The District Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles will not file any charges against USC defensive back Josh Shaw, according to a report from the Orange County Register.
Back in late August, Shaw injured himself when he jumped from a balcony following an incident with his girlfriend. At first, though, it was not known that the incident had anything to do with a girlfriend.
Shaw was labeled a hero when he originally told people that he had hurt himself by saving his nephew from drowning. He received adulation from many across that country–until the truth started to come out and it was eventually found out that Shaw’s incident had nothing to do with a drowning boy.
Upon learning the truth, USC suspended Shaw indefinitely and he has not been on the field this season for the Trojans in the first year of the Steve Sarkisian era.
Shaw was under investigation after he and his girlfriend got into a heated argument with one another, causing a significant amount of noise that prompted neighbors to call the police. Basically fearing that he would be stereotyped by the police, he tried to flee the scene by hopping the balcony and ultimately ended up spraining both of his ankles, which spun the wheels in motion for the lie.
With just two games left in the season, it will now be interesting to see if Shaw will see the field at all going forward now that the matter is in the clear.
