New Orleans Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis denied shots quicker than a loan applicant with a 400 credit score gets denied
New Orleans Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis is a shot blocker. We’ve always known that. However on Monday night, the Portland Trail Blazers couldn’t get shots up quick enough to avoid them. The rest of the NBA is on notice.

Davis officially blocked just three shots on Monday night in the Pelicans 102-93 loss in Portland but two of them came within two seconds of each other at the 1:38 mark of the second quarter. The Pelicans were holding a nine-point lead at the time.
Amazing. Shoot on me once, denied, shoot on me twice, denied again. It was that quick. It was one of the better defensive sequences I’ve seen in the first three weeks of the 2014-2015 season.
Davis actually finished behind his season average to date on blocked shots. His three blocks on Monday night was a full block below his average of four blocks a game.
With his 25.2 points and 11.7 rebounds per game along with his 57.9 percent field goal percentage to go along with the blocks, many have already concluded Davis is well on his way to an MVP award. He is a complete player on both ends of the floor and ast night in Portland was one more example of that.
