Buffalo Sabres Player Misses Game Due To Massive Blizzard
It shouldn’t come as a shock that Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta can’t make Tuesday night’s game against the San Jose Sharks. After all, the city was hit with up to 70 inches of lake effect snow earlier in the day.

Patrick Kaleta has a legitimate excuse as to why he couldn’t make it to work on Tuesday. When the Buffalo Sabres forward said he was snowed in, he wasn’t talking about the kind of wee snowfall that puts a warm weather city into panic and Live Team Coverage on the local news.
Nah, Kaleta was talking about the 70 inches that hit Buffalo early Tuesday, as lake effect snow turned the city into a winter wonderland more than a month before winter actually jumps off. Kaleta is 6’1 (73 inches for those scoring at home), so it stood to reason that the numbers wouldn’t work in his favor had he attempted to leave home to help the Sabres take on the San Jose Sharks.
Sabres coach Ted Nolan probably won’t need a note from Kaleta — who made his season debut last Saturday — when it comes to why he didn’t show up.
Kaleta wasn’t the only member of the Sabres who was left snowed in. Several members of the team’s medical staff will be at home due to the snow. The franchise is offering a ticket exchange program to fans unable to make the game, although a look at the attendance totals will be intriguing. Certainly, there will be those who could care less about nearly six feet of snow keeping them from their beloved Sabres.
