Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James would like to play fewer minutes than he is right now.

LeBron James ranks third in the NBA in minutes played per game with 39.1.

However, if it were up to James, he wouldn’t be seeing the court so much.

The Cleveland Cavaliers forward star made it clear on Tuesday to Cleveland.com that he’d like to see his minutes decrease.

"“For me, I don’t want to do that all year,” James said. “Obviously right now it’s difficult because we’re trying to find a groove and we’re trying to find a rhythm and we’re trying to find something that you can’t really, you don’t want to shortcut it but at the same time you gotta be smart about it.”"

James’ two star teammates, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving, also rank among the top-five in minutes per game. LeBron said he’d like to see them playing less as well.

"“That has to come down,” James said Tuesday, referring to the playing time for Cleveland’s Big 3."

Fortunately for LeBron, Love and Irving, it appears Cavs coach David Blatt has heard James’ message and changes are coming.

"Following practice Tuesday, Blatt said he thinks “it might be a good idea for our guys to play some shorter stretches harder rather than longer stretches.“We’re going to see how we can incorporate that philosophy,” Blatt said. If that new philosophy sticks, it would mean more court time for more reserves."

While it’s important for Love, Irving and James to develop a chemistry during the regular season, ultimately the playoffs is what matters to this team. LeBron, Love and Irving are going to need to be healthy and fresh for this team to win a championship, so it’s wise not to push them all to hard during the regular season.
