Pittsburgh Steelers running back LeGarrette Blount reportedly left the field before the end of the team’s Monday Night Football victory over the Tennessee Titans.

LeGarrette Blount isn’t happy with his role on the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Steelers aren’t happy with his attitude. That came to head on Monday night when Blount left the game in Tennessee early after having accrued a whopping zero yards on zero rushes. Now it appears Blount and the Steelers could be headed for a parting of ways perhaps even before Blount’s contract expires.

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes of the situation:

"Blount has been an internal problem for at least a month for the Steelers and sources told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he is dragging down star halfback Le’Veon Bell, even though that obviously was not the case Monday night when Bell ran 33 times for 204 yards."

While Le’Veon Bell has become a bona fide stud for the Steelers, Blount has slipped more and more into obscurity. Since his 118 yard effort against the Carolina Panthers in Week 3, Blount has had 10 or more rushes just once this season.

So much for thunder and lightning. It seems the Steelers are content to ride Bell for as long as he’ll carry the offense while leaving Blount by the wayside.

Bouchette doesn’t point to any public signs of frustration from other players and coaches, but he does note ‘some players have been pushing for them to release [Blount] because of his poor attitude.’ With the bye week coming up for Pittsburgh, now might not be a bad time for the team to cut ways and find a more team-oriented backup running back, or at least one who sticks around to see how the game ends.
