Texas football coach Charlie Strong knows the Florida job could be his, yet he made it clear that he’s perfectly fine remaining in Austin and rebuilding the Longhorns’ program.

Sorry, Florida. Charlie Strong’s just not that into you.
The Texas coach could walk into Gainesville and take the Gators job with no problem, yet he made it clear that’s he’s not interested in replacing Will Muschamp, who was relieved of duty on Sunday.
“I have a great job,” said Strong. “There’s still a lot of work here to get done.”
That great job also includes a lot of money, a stream of high-end recruits and a revived booster club and alum base quite pleased that Texas has a three-game win streak and is bowl-eligible, but who’s counting, right?
Strong has solid ties to Florida, where he began his career as a graduate assistant before eventually becoming defensive coordinator under Urban Meyer when the Gators were the flagship program in the SEC and winning national championships. Now, Florida would love to have Strong back to bring luster back to a program that needs a win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday just to become bowl-eligible.
Spurned by Strong, the Gators have also been stiffed by Arizona’s Rich Rodriguez, but have been interested in Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen. There’s always the pipe dream of Steve Spurrier returning from South Carolina to come back home, a dream that is very unlikely to happen.
Florida will find a big-name coach. However, it won’t be one who calls Austin home.
