According to Pau Gasol, Los Angeles will always belong to the Los Angeles Lakers. Maybe he hasn’t seen them play this season.
I don’t need to remind you of the history of the Los Angeles Lakers, but it might be more entertaining than watching this current group that gave up 115 points in just three quarters against the Golden State Warriors.

Making things worse for Lakers fans is the recent surge by the Los Angeles Clippers, with a playing style as boisterous as their new owner. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are doing their best to win over LA, and the Clips have enjoyed a rise along with the hipster culture.
Still, stealing LA from the Lakers would be like the Mets stealing New York from the Yankees.
It ain’t gonna happen.
Pau Gasol, who won two titles with the Lakers, has first-hand knowledge of this.
As much ground as the Clippers have gained, the Lakers remain the most important show in Hollywood. What happens next will be important, though, to keep the Clippers from catching up any more.
The Lakers seek to land a big-name free agent and they are going to need one–or a major draft hit–to provide a window to the future. They remain a destination franchise (though that carries less weight than it’s made out to be) and have the support in place, but right now the Lakers just need to catch a break.
