Some folks just shouldn’t be on Twitter and one of those is apparently Pittsburgh Steelers safety Mike Mitchell who has been banned from social media by the NFL team.

A moment of rage is temporary, but the Internet is forever. Steelers safety Mike Mitchell apparently thought he could get away with sending a Twitter user nasty direct messages such as “kill yourself” and “die broke,” as reported by The Big Lead. Unfortunately for Mitchell, the user simply took a screen grab of the messages and posted them for everyone to see.
Then the Pittsburgh media saw it and eventually so did the Steelers. The team announced on Tuesday that Mitchell is suspended from further social media use thanks to his outburst.
Of course, Mitchell could have deleted the messages, which also makes them disappear on the other user’s side, but most likely anyone receiving death threats from a celebrity is going to record the evidence, so Mitchell was more or less doomed from the beginning.
The Steelers signed Mike Mitchell in free agency earlier this year and gave him a five year deal worth $25 million. They probably should have given him some classes on how to use social media as well.
